Profile

I have been a painter all my life and trained at High Wycombe Art school for one year followed by three years at Bretton Hall in Yorkshire.

I qualified as a teacher and taught from 1964 to 1990. I took early retirement at 50 to join a London theatre training company.

With marriage, children and full time teaching I had little time for my own artistic development, but after a short spell of performing, with The Courtyard Theatre Training Company at Kings Cross, I took my daughter's advice and abandoned my ambition to be an actress!

"Don't ever do that again mum, it was so embarrassing" being her words of wisdom after my first performance to the paying London public!

I did however continue as a painter!

What you will see on my web site will be works spanning the last 10 years or so. Some very traditional, influenced especially by The Impressionists.

Recent work is evolving from my love of Abstract Expressionism and my empathy with and love of we humans and the human conditions of despair and joy.

These paintings are part of an 8 week project I did on human grief relating particularly to the losses suffered after the Tsunami but of course they relate to all human suffering.

I welcome you to my site and hope you find something that moves or particularly interests you.
